The plan polls at roughly 70% support among the broader electorate (give or take depending on the poll). But some four in 10 conservative voters support it—even more in some polls. In The New York Times/Survey Monkey poll, 43% of Republicans/leaners backed the relief package, while a recent Economist/YouGov poll found 39% support among Republicans and a Politico/Morning Consult poll put GOP support at 60%. “Most of it sounds like a good idea,” Anthony McGill, a self-identified conservative Republican in rural Maine, told the Times. “There’s a lot of people that could use those checks."
