'We are f****d!' Benfica fan travels to WRONG Frankfurt for Europa League tie

An unfortunate Benfica fan endured a nightmare European trip as he traveled 28 hours to follow his team take on Eintracht Frankfurt in tonight's UEFA Europa League game, only to discover he had turned up in the wrong city.

Alvaro Oliveira documented his journey via his Instagram story as he passed through Paris en route to his selected destination. But when he shared video footage of his car passing a sign for Frankfurt (Oder), he declared they were arriving in Frankfurt.

Which was partly true, but not quite as he had hoped.

That's because Oliveira had arrived at Frankfurt an der Oder, a town on the German-Polish border, and not the main town of Frankfurt, which is situated more centrally in Germany, some six hours away by car.

After fans alerted Oliveira in his Instagram comments that he had made a catastrophic error, the Benfica fan posted a message to his followers which translated as "We're f****d!"

But, like all football fans, Oliveira remained optimistic as he hit the road once again in a race against time to make it to his intended destination.

We're not sure if he has made it in time for kick-off, but if he has, he'll take his place inside Frankfurt's Commerzbank-Arena hoping his side can preserve their two-goal lead from the first leg.

Benfica claimed an impressive 4-2 win at the Estadio de Luz, and will be looking to avoid any slip-ups in Germany tonight.
