Report: Cavaliers expected to move on from Kevin Porter Jr. after outburst

It appears the Cleveland Cavaliers will have a hole to fill on their roster.

According to The Athletic's Jason Lloyd, Joe Vardon and others, the Cavaliers are expected to either release or trade Kevin Porter Jr. following an outburst in the team locker room on Friday.

Porter has not played a game yet this season due to personal reasons and became angry when he realized the Cavaliers gave his old locker to Taurean Prince, who was acquired from the Brooklyn Nets in the four-team James Harden trade last week.

The 20-year-old began yelling and throwing food and still was combative after Cleveland general manager Koby Altman entered the locker room and confronted him. According to The Athletic, the team spent the weekend trying to trade him.

Porter had a solid rookie campaign during the 2019-20 season, averaging 10 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 44.2% from the field and 33.5% from deep.

The USC product has been held off the court this season while dealing with an off-court legal issue. In November, he was arrested for improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle, driving without a license and marijuana possession following an accident. The charges were dropped a month later.
