WALLACE, La. (AP) - A Louisiana museum that tells the story of the enslaved is receiving a $250,000 grant.

Whitney Plantation Museum in Wallace says in a news release that the one-year grant has been awarded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

The release says the museum’s average monthly attendance has dropped from 10,000 visitors to 1,000.

Whitney executive director Ashley Rogers said the funding will help the museum sustain its operations, expand staff and craft educational programs for on-site and distance learning.
