Diego Maradona jersey from first World Cup game expected to fetch $200K at auction

The game-used jersey from Diego Maradona's first World Cup appearance in 1982 is hitting the auction block.

According to TMZ Sports, experts believe the jersey could sell for around $200,000.

Maradona made his World Cup debut on June 13, 1982, in a group stage match against Belgium. He didn't score a goal, though he did show flashes of greatness in a 1-0 loss.

The jersey up for auction features Maradona's autograph. It has been kept in good condition by a famous Argentinian journalist who was given the jersey as a gift from Argentina manager César Luis Menotti after the team returned from the World Cup in Spain.

Maradona memorabilia has skyrocketed in price since the legend's death in November 2020. He died at age 60 after suffering a heart attack.

The Argentinian is considered one of the best soccer players to ever take the field. He led Argentina to a World Cup title in 1986 and won the Serie A title during the 1989-90 season.
