Garrett becomes first Browns player to join ‘Madden 99 Club’
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

First-Team All-Pro defensive end and former No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett is the latest NFL player to enter the exclusive “Madden 99 Club,” the long-running and iconic video game series announced Thursday.

As noted in the above social media dispatch from the official Twitter account of “Madden 22,” Garrett became the first Cleveland Browns player to ever earn the distinction of being named to the “99 Club.” The Browns made sure to congratulate the superstar and also shared footage of him learning of the noteworthy honor.

Ahead of the 2022 NFL season, “Madden 22” released the list of players whose past dominance merited their inclusion in the “99 Club” before a snap was taken: Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, Los Angeles Rams defensive end Aaron Donald, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Of course, the announcement of Garrett joining the club created something of a stir, just like each and every other time a player is added to the “99 Club.”

Garrett’s addition to the above list is well-deserved. In 13 games this season, the Browns pass-rusher and two-time Pro Bowler has 45 total tackles, 15 sacks and a forced fumble returned for a touchdown.

Given the above play occurred in last Sunday’s critical 24-22 win over the rival Ravens that moved the Browns (7-6) only one game back of Baltimore (8-5) in the AFC Central and kept the team’s division title hopes alive, Garrett’s addition to the “99 Club” fraternity this week could not have come at a more fitting time.
